the sha(me)

Captured him doodling/dreaming under the banner of an exclusive apartment in one of the most expensive areas of Dhaka. These kids are literally being treated as stray dogs and their numbers are significantly large and growing. If they are given a gun and asked to take a person's life, I wonder, what would stop them and why? What system of values had he been taught and how was his own life ever valued? How were they treated by people who are addressed as people by our society and why he should be compassionate towards one?

As we ponder about the corruption that has crippled our land; as we think about the rapes, the murders, the riots and the money-hungry-politicians; we must think about how a growing population of street children dejected by our society might be linked to all our worries.

colors

surrounding him, the colors
twisted, turned and twirled
played a music that they danced to
about the little wonders of the world

but a cage was made,
within which he was bounded
void of love, life and laughter
where all hope was grounded

so his eyes became the stage
of a play that well played
the life he saw around him
and the one that had him slaved

Long to Live Again

Swim through the clouds I shall
stroll down the rainbow which,
dives into the moonlit sea
of love and life, and life and love that
fills the starry night, as I see
it turning, tossing, telling untold tales
and singing unheard voices make me
dance in magic harmony keeping my soul alive,
till I lie and long to live again
as the universe slips away
from my hand,
and i sleep the dreamless sleep
